Loft Villa - Belvidere Country Estate

Rejuvenating! Positive: Location was great, ideal for a quiet and restful family getaway. Location close to other amenities including restaurants; places of interest, close to Pietermaritzburg to access for big shops. The loft was mostly very comfortable, good space for a small family. Braai stand and pizza oven and firewood were a great plus. Multiple seating areas to enjoy with family or for some alone time. Negative: The bedrooms got uncomfortably hot at night. The fans provided were not adequate to cool down the rooms.

Scary but beautiful Positive: It’s quite spacious and beautiful Negative: The property itself is beautiful, however the overall experience felt unsafe and uncomfortable. Parking is located at the back of the yard, far from view, which made us uneasy. The property is in a remote area, far from the city, and there was no one present to welcome us or show us around. This left us unsure about our safety from the moment we arrived. During the night, we were repeatedly woken up by unfamiliar sounds and felt the need to check whether we were being robbed. In addition, the place had a serious issue with flies. We had to purchase insect spray and used almost an entire can in one day. The cleanliness was also concerning—after wiping the coffee table, the cloth came back brown. Overall, while the setting is beautiful, the lack of security, cleanliness, and proper hosting made the stay uncomfortable.
